What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical BIM Modeler position at Kelso Burnett?
The BIM Modeler supports the planning, design, and documentation of construction projects by developing and maintaining accurate 3D building information models. This position collaborates with architects, engineers, project managers, and other construction professionals to ensure models reflect current project specifications, comply with industry standards, and support design and construction coordination. This role involves producing drawings, running clash detection, supporting project documentation, and assisting with technical BIM software troubleshooting.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & TRAINING:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Revit knowledge a plus
- AutoCAD knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of construction industry, electrical system knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of Navisworks, Bluebeam, BIM Glue, Total Station/Trimble a plus, but not necessary
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are beneficial.
- Effective organization skills, including the ability to prioritize and plan tasks.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in BIM software including Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of construction processes, building codes, drafting standards, and model coordination practices.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Foundational computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications.
- Ability to participate in project meetings and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and maintain accurate BIM models throughout all project phases.
- Produce detailed drawings and documentation from BIM models to support design and construction.
- Perform clash detection to identify and resolve conflicts in design models.
- Coordinate and integrate model data with architects, engineers, and other project contributors.
- Maintain project model standards in alignment with company and industry guidelines.
- Assist with troubleshooting and technical support related to BIM software.
- Create visual renderings and model representations for client and regulatory presentations.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure information accuracy and version control.
Other Duties
- Attend staff, departmental, and project coordination meetings.
- Participate in professional training and development as assigned.
