Job Summary
To perform those duties that are necessary in the routine cleaning of the school. To do minor maintenance and maintain the grounds as necessary. To maintain the school building and grounds in a safe, clean, orderly, and attractive appearance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent 2. Knowledge of custodial duties and cleaning materials Ability to: 1. Follow written and oral directions 2. Work independently 3. Follow and complete assigned duties on a regular basis 4. Recognize and deal with safety hazards in a manner appropriate to eliminate such hazards. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Sweeps, scrubs, strips, waxes, polishes concrete, linoleum, tile, and wood floors. Clean and dust walls, furniture, and chalkboard. Cleans sinks and faucets. Dump trash both in the classrooms, offices, library, and outside trash receptacles. Restrooms – clean wash basins and toilets, disinfect daily, clean mirrors and replace paper products as needed, and mop daily. Grounds upkeep as deemed necessary. To assist office and cafeteria personnel in lifting and storing o f supplies and equipment. Secure all rooms at the end of each work shift. Clean windows and glass doors as necessary. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with teachers, specialists, students, and other contacted in the course of work. Change light bulbs as needed. Assist maintenance department as needed. Daily cleaning of cafeteria. Other custodian or maintenance duties as assigned. SUPERVISION Under the direct supervision of the site administrator.
Requirements / Qualifications
High school graduate. Knowledge of custodial duties and cleaning materials. Possess the ability to work positively and effectively with students, families, school personnel, and other community agencies.
