What’s a typical day as a Medical Biller? You’ll be:

• Reviewing medical claims and transmitting them to insurance carriers using an electronic health records (EHR) system and clearing house.
• Monitoring rejected claims, making necessary adjustments, and resubmitting for approval.
• Downloading explanation of payments to post claim payments and denials in the EHR system.
• Researching denied and open claim balances, correcting errors, and resubmitting within carrier guidelines.
• Utilizing insurance carrier websites and direct communication to investigate claim denials and status.
• Partnering with the clearing house to distribute patient billing statements and monitor the patient portal for payments.
• Initiating overpayment refunds to patients and repayments to carriers, as required.
• Serving as the primary point of contact for vision and medical claims within the practice.
• Supporting the corporate manager to maximize claim collection rates.
  
  

This Job Might Be An Outstanding Fit If You

• Have a high school diploma and at least 3 years of related experience in medical billing and coding (5 years strongly preferred).
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Exhibit effective communication skills—verbal, written, listening, and presentation.
• Can prioritize issues efficiently and solve problems independently.
• Have experience working in multiple doctor practices (preferred).
• Possess knowledge of requirements for multiple insurance carriers and proven ability to identify and resolve billing issues.
