Transportation Planner Specialist II
Location(s): West Point, PA; Rahway, NJ (Hybrid)
Summary:
The Transportation Planner Specialist II is responsible for driving tasks to completion. This role requires a heightened level of autonomy and strong business acumen. This role requires effective communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to support various business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Drive tasks to completion amidst ambiguity.
- Collaborate across functions to achieve business objectives.
- Engage in problem-solving and analytical thinking to address challenges as they arise.
- Track and trace shipments across assigned lanes, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to routing plans.
- Monitor carrier portals/emails/EDI for updates, exceptions and status.
- Proactively update shipment milestones in TMS/ERP and maintain accurate, timely data entry.
- Identify exceptions (missed pickups, delays & damages) and initiate corrective actions.
- Follow defined escalation pathways to resolve service failures and capacity constraints.
- Document all escalations, root causes, and resolutions in the case/ticketing system.
- Support on-time performance by expediting urgent and aging orders.
- Review import customs documentation and prepare clearance instructions for brokers supporting shipments into Canada.
- Provide courteous, timely responses to internal and external inquiries via email, phone, and chat.
- Support, and/or execute, booking arrangements per routing guide for Distribution Centers and Ad-Hoc Business Requestors
- Support the development and maintenance of routing strategies and lead-time management.
- Work closely with Clinical Supply Planning, Master Planning, Country Clinical Operations, Logistics, Trade Compliance, and external partners.
- Support initiatives and projects as a functional area expert (SME) for transportation processes.
- Perform root cause analysis on service failures using data and process mapping.
- Identify systemic drivers and propose corrective actions
- Support quarterly business reviews with carriers/business units.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with relevant experience may be considered.
3 years of experience in a related field; candidates without a degree should have 6 years of relevant experience.
