Kelly Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer – Rotational Molding for a full-time opportunity supporting the creation of custom, high-quality reusable shipping solutions for high-value customer equipment. Overview
As a Project Engineer, you will lead customer projects from design through production—interfacing with customers, engineering unique molded components, and driving results that support both manufacturing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Design foam cushioning and shock-isolated metal structures for reusable containers protecting sensitive equipment during transport
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams (new product development, manufacturing, lab/testing, and production) to define requirements and steer projects
- Develop project concepts, detailed designs, and testing parameters in accordance with customer needs and manufacturing capabilities
- Manage smooth project transitions from trials to full-scale manufacturing; support purchasing and scheduling as needed
- Prepare and present project status reports for internal and external stakeholders; facilitate engineering meetings
- Identify and recommend new processes, equipment, and technologies for continual business improvement—supporting capital projects and innovating for patentable solutions
- Mentor other engineers and share best practices to strengthen the engineering community
- Ensure project folders and documentation are complete and ISO-compliant
- Contribute to the advancement of rotational molding and manufacturing excellence
- Support and comply with all safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering, OR 7 years of hands-on rotational molding part design/processing experience
- Eligible to receive ITAR-controlled information
- Background in Lean/Six Sigma, FMEA, and GD&T
- Proficiency in CAD modeling and Material Requirement Planning systems (Solid Edge/SAP preferred)
- Effective communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- Strong time and project management abilities; comfortable working independently
Pluses:
- Experience supporting capital projects, developing novel technologies, or mentoring colleagues
- Exposure to ISO quality documentation and patent processes
Additional Information
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed and travel nationally/internationally
- Frequently performs hands-on activities (standing, walking, use of hands, lifting up to 40 lbs occasionally, physical movement within facility)
- Repetitive hand/wrist activities required
