Overview
Our client designs and manufactures specialized fluid and motion control devices—including valves, actuators, switches, pumps, and Environmental Control System (ECS) components—for critical commercial and defense aviation applications. Their products are engineered for demanding environments where reliability, performance, and safety are essential.
As a Product Design Engineer, you'll support the design, development, and production of mechanical aircraft components used in Environmental Control Systems. Working with metallic, composite, and hybrid assemblies, you'll help bring products from concept through production while partnering closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and production-ready.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop aerospace components and assemblies from concept through production and sustaining engineering.
- Create 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation using SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD software.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, testing, supply chain, and program management to support successful product development and production.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize product designs for manufacturing.
- Support prototype builds, product validation, qualification testing, production launches, and sustaining engineering activities.
- Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues using structured root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Participate in engineering design reviews and drive continuous improvements in product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of three years of mechanical product design experience within the aerospace industry.
- Experience designing metallic, composite, or hybrid aerospace components and assemblies.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), with experience collaborating directly with manufacturing teams.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, CATIA, or comparable 3D CAD software.
- Experience with ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or comparable engineering analysis tools.
- Experience supporting Aerospace Environmental Control Systems (ECS) or related aircraft products—including ducting systems, thermal management products, fluid systems, acoustic components, or similar aerospace hardware—is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
