Our client is seeking a Mechanical Designer / Product Development Engineer to support the design and development of custom mechanical systems and material handling equipment. This role will focus on 3D modeling, sheet metal design, product development, and engineering documentation while supporting projects from concept through installation.

The ideal candidate will have experience using Autodesk Inventor for mechanical design, familiarity with Vault for design/document management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment supporting custom equipment and integration projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor
  • Develop and manage engineering documentation, bills of materials, and release packages utilizing Vault
  • ****REQUIRED***Design sheet metal components and mechanical assemblies for industrial and material handling applications
  • Support the transition of conceptual designs into detailed engineering and manufacturing phases
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams regarding materials, fabrication, and product specifications
  • Assist with installation documentation, engineering change orders (ECOs), and design release procedures
  • Support client discussions related to equipment design, functionality, and engineering concerns
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure project success
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support installations, quality control, and implementation activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using Autodesk Inventor in a professional engineering environment
  • Working knowledge of Vault for document and design management
  • Experience with sheet metal design and mechanical assemblies
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and product development workflows
  • Ability to work on fast-paced projects with aggressive timelines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with conveyors, material handling systems, automation equipment, or industrial machinery
  • Exposure to installation/integration processes and field support activities
  • Experience creating BOMs, fabrication drawings, and release documentation
  • Knowledge of ECO/engineering release procedures
