Ideal Candidate:
- Around five (5) years of experience, technically strong, with a Bachelor's degree in engineering/safety sciences (flexible for experience), and a background in the chemical industry (R&D or manufacturing).
- Experience in contractor safety, electrical safety (NFPA 70, arc flash), and lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs.
- Compensation: $94,000 to $118,700 with an 8% bonus
- Shift: 1st

- R&D facility with about 550 people, including labs (wet chemistry, physical testing), processing areas (molding machines, compounding lines), and a pilot plant.
Overview:
- The HSE Specialist oversees occupational safety programs across a facility encompassing laboratories, processing areas, a pilot plant, and a maintenance department.
- Reporting to the HSE Manager, this role is integral to the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Safety Programs:
- Fall protection
- Confined space entry
- Safe work permitting
- Electrical safety
- Energy isolation
- Contractor management
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Develop and implement health and safety procedures
- Drive continuous improvement in safety programs
Participate In:
- Site Safety Council
- Emergency Response Team
- Other safety-related committees
- Deliver training to employees and contractors
- Conduct field observations to identify risks
- Lead incident investigations and track corrective actions
- Support Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) certification and Management of Change processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in a laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Familiarity with:
- OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
- ANSI and NFPA standards
- HSE Management Systems (RCMS preferred)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training
Salary : $94,000 - $118,700
