Lead Quality Excellence Across a Global Manufacturing Organization

Our client is a global consumer products manufacturer seeking an accomplished Director of Global Quality to lead its enterprise-wide quality strategy and Quality Management System (QMS).

Reporting directly to the CEO, this highly visible leader will have end-to-end accountability for product quality—from incoming materials and supplier performance through manufacturing, finished goods, distribution, and customer experience. The Director will establish consistent global standards, strengthen quality processes across internal and external manufacturing partners, and build a culture of prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Global Quality Strategy and QMS

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve a company-wide QMS spanning suppliers, contract manufacturers, and company-owned facilities.
• Establish consistent global quality standards, policies, procedures, metrics, and governance.
• Drive quality consistency across multiple manufacturing locations and supplier partners.
• Integrate quality requirements into product and process design rather than relying primarily on final inspection.
• Champion Lean principles, continuous improvement, waste reduction, and a culture of zero defects.
  
  

Supplier Quality

• Develop and manage supplier qualification, approval, monitoring, and improvement processes.
• Lead supplier quality assessments, capability reviews, audits, and first-article/product validation activities.
• Establish supplier performance expectations and scorecards.
• Lead the investigation and resolution of significant supplier quality issues.
• Partner with Sourcing and Engineering to address recurring supplier issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Strengthen supplier accountability while building long-term supplier quality improvement strategies.
  
  

Manufacturing Quality

• Establish consistent manufacturing quality standards across company-owned facilities and contract manufacturing partners.
• Ensure effective process controls, work instructions, inspection standards, testing procedures, control plans, and quality records.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action efforts for significant manufacturing and product quality issues.
• Establish escalation procedures for major concerns, including containment, stop-ship, stop-production, and product disposition when appropriate.
• Identify recurring manufacturing issues and partner with Operations and Engineering to implement sustainable improvements.
  
  

Product and Customer Quality

• Maintain end-to-end accountability for product quality from incoming materials through manufacturing and distribution.
• Analyze warranty, field, return, customer complaint, and other quality data to identify trends and systemic issues.
• Translate customer and field feedback into actionable product and process improvements.
• Partner with Product Development and Engineering to incorporate quality and reliability requirements into new and existing products.
• Drive improvements in product reliability, consistency, and the overall customer experience.
  
  

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

• Lead and develop quality resources across multiple locations and functions.
• Establish clear quality KPIs and provide executive leadership with visibility into performance, risks, trends, and corrective actions.
• Promote structured problem-solving methodologies, including root-cause analysis and CAPA.
• Influence cross-functional teams and external partners to drive quality initiatives from identification through sustainable resolution.
• Build strong partnerships with Engineering, Product Development, Sourcing, Operations, Customer Service, and suppliers.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related technical discipline required.
• 10 years of progressive quality, manufacturing, or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Significant leadership experience overseeing enterprise, multi-site, or global quality functions.
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, or improving a Quality Management System.
• Strong experience with supplier quality, manufacturing quality, audits, corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Proven ability to establish quality standards, metrics, processes, and governance across multiple locations and organizations.
• Strong analytical, communication, influencing, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Ability to translate quality data and customer feedback into measurable business and product improvements.
