Bookkeeper
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Human Resources Coordinator to assist the controller with daily reconciliations while supporting day-to-day HR operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
- Assist company controller with day-to-day cash management
- Reconcile insurance billing and other general ledger accounts
- Prepare monthly/quarterly use and head tax reports
- Prepare weekly Federal and State income tax deposits
- Backup for payroll and materials management billings
- Assist in various other bookkeeping tasks
Human Resources
- Maintain employee personnel files and confidential records.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Process new hire paperwork and benefits enrollment.
- Maintain employee records.
- Assist with recruiting, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Manage annual open enrollment process
- Manage unemployment claims
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support employee training, policies, and performance documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
Qualifications
- Experience in bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, human resources, or a related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Desire to learn new things and take on a variety of responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Bookkeeping, payroll and HR experience.
- Knowledge of employment law and payroll regulations.
- Experience in the construction, transportation, or trucking industry is a plus.
- Proficient in Excel and strong working aptitude for accounting software systems
