Department: Midwest Parts Hub
Functions: To sell parts to all available customers, over the counter, online sites, or on the phone.
Relationships: Reports to Wholesale Parts Manager
Responsibilities and Authority:
- Treat customers and fellow employees in accordance with company policies.
- Read and use computer and/or catalogs for numerous job functions.
- Inform customer of prices, shipping date, anticipated delays and any additional information needed by customer.
- Write or type order form, or enter data into computer, to record order information and pertinent information for each customer.
- Route orders to departments for pulling and shelving. Follow up on orders to ensure delivery by specified dates.
- Initiate purchase requisitions. Compute shipping charges and, if required, price per company guidelines.
- Prepare invoices and shipping documents.
- Assist customers with loading when necessary.
- Receive and follow up on customer complaints. Communicate complaints with the appropriate sales representative and/or supervisor.
- Confer with sales, shipping, warehouse, or common carrier personnel to ensure efficient process of orders.
- Research order discrepancies.
- Attempt to promote and sell additional merchandise to customer.
- Compile statistics and prepare various reports for management, when requested.
- Assist in warehouse or as delivery driver on an as needed basis.
- Keep workspace clean and uncluttered.
- Advise management when any areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition.
- Participate in all training programs that are made available.
- Any other tasks deemed necessary per Management.
Qualifications:
Must have a High School diploma or the equivalent; one year of experience in an automotive parts department. Will have customer interaction. Excellent communication skills. Basic mathematical and reasoning skills needed. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Employee must be able to lift up 10 lbs. regularly, up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
Working Conditions:
Will work at a desk in an office setting and occasionally a warehouse setting. Will work with a computer and organize paperwork for most of the shift. May stand, stoop, lift, kneel, crouch or reach during the shift. Sound level is usually moderate. Will be exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
