Senior Insurance Accounting Analyst

Keller Executive Search is recruiting for a newly launched insurance brokerage that is establishing its accounting and fiduciary-control foundation. This is a rare opportunity to build a function rather than inherit a mature process. The successful candidate will become the internal authority on brokerage accounting, premium trust activity, financial reporting, and agency management system workflows.

Reporting to a finance and investments leader, you will own period-close reconciliation between the agency management system and the parent organization's ERP, oversee an outsourced bookkeeping provider, and execute carrier remittances and earned commission releases. During implementation, you will shape accounting flows, manage parallel system operation, and help transition the agency management system into the transaction system of record.

This hands-on individual-contributor role offers substantial autonomy and visibility within a small, developing brokerage team. You will create repeatable controls, safeguard fiduciary funds, maintain accurate reporting, and establish processes that can support future growth. • Own period-close accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting routines for the brokerage.
• Monitor premium trust and operating bank accounts, process deposits, and maintain complete supporting documentation.
• Review bookkeeper-prepared payment instructions and execute accurate, timely carrier remittances.
• Validate earned commission releases and initiate approved transfers from trust to operating accounts.
• Serve as the primary liaison to the outsourced bookkeeping provider, setting workflows and resolving discrepancies.
• Lead accounting-flow implementation within the agency management system and serve as its internal accounting subject-matter expert.
• Manage parallel operation of the agency management system and ERP, including period-close reconciliation and sign-off.
• Review export packages and post summarized GAAP journal entries to the ERP following system cutover.
• Review balance sheets, income statements, aged premium receivables, carrier payables, and producer commission reports.
• Follow up on overdue premiums and investigate unmatched, duplicate, and timing-related transactions.
• Maintain fiduciary records and controls supporting applicable state requirements and examination readiness.
• Prepare applicable surplus-lines filings, affidavits, payments, and supporting records.
• Protect confidential client and policy information throughout accounting and reporting processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a closely related field.
• At least three years of insurance agency accounting, insurance trust accounting, or brokerage financial-operations experience.
• Insurance-sector background with practical knowledge of intermediary transactions and terminology.
• Working knowledge of agency management system accounting, including agency-billed and direct-billed workflows, trust ledgers, bank reconciliation, and commission recording.
• Hands-on ownership of month-end close, bank and subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations, and GAAP financial-statement review.
• Ability to work independently as the accountable accounting owner within a small, developing function.
• Strong attention to detail, process discipline, organization, and professional communication.
• This is an onsite position.

• Experience managing premium trust accounts, carrier remittances, commission releases, and fiduciary compliance.
• Insurance brokerage or agency accounting experience.
• Accounting-module experience with AMS360 or a comparable agency management system.
• Experience implementing, converting, or running an agency management system in parallel with an ERP.
• Experience coordinating and reviewing an outsourced bookkeeping or accounting provider.
• Knowledge of surplus-lines filings and state insurance recordkeeping requirements.
• Proficiency with online banking platforms, ACH origination, and electronic payment processing.
• SAP experience.
