Position Summary
Accountable for protecting the way of life of agency clients. Responsible for analyzing risks and developing insurance protection programs. Responsible for developing relationships of caring and of trust. Responsible for underwriting for profitability. Responsible for referrals and securing testimonials.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned mid-to-large commercial accounts, including related personal insurance accounts and agribusiness clients
- Analyze client risks and develop customized insurance protection strategies
- Gather underwriting information, qualify prospects, and ensure profitability according to agency and carrier guidelines
- Advise clients on coverage options and explain policy features and benefits
- Create professional proposals and presentations
- Manage new business submissions, bind coverage within authority, and review policies for accuracy
- Support renewals, conduct annual protection reviews, and maintain retention goals
- Respond to service requests, recommend coverage updates, and identify cross-sell opportunities
- Collaborate with producers and team members on marketing submissions, negotiating quotes, and renewal strategy
- Assist clients with claims reporting when necessary
- Maintain ongoing client communication and deliver high-quality service
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or three years of related insurance experience (or equivalent combination)
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and sales skills
- Ability to analyze risk and apply underwriting criteria
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for client meetings
Licensing Requirements
- Pennsylvania Property & Casualty license within 45 days of hire
- Pennsylvania Life & Health license within one year
- Industry designation (e.g., CISR, CIC, CPCU, AFIS, CPIA) within two years
Work Environment
Fast-paced office environment with frequent client interaction and approximately 60% local travel to visit current and prospective clients.
