The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of materials in and out of the facility. This position is responsible for managing warehouse inventory, processing incoming and outgoing shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory records in the ERP system. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication with internal teams and external carriers, and the ability to operate warehouse equipment safely.
This role encompasses three primary areas: Inventory Management, Receiving, and Shipping.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Receive, stock, and track purchased and work-in-progress (WIP) inventory.
- Perform ERP transactions to maintain accurate on-hand balances.
- Pick and deliver work orders and materials to designated locations.
- Issue materials to work orders and perform inventory transfers or location updates.
- Conduct routine cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Receive and process returned materials (RMAs) and coordinate with Sales and Planning for disposition.
- Run and analyze daily inventory reports.
- Greet and coordinate with delivery drivers.
- Verify received items against packing slips to ensure accuracy.
- Unpack deliveries and receive purchase orders in the ERP system.
- Deliver stock items to their appropriate locations.
- Notify appropriate team members or end users of non-stock deliveries.
- Work closely with the Buying team to resolve any discrepancies on packing slips.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, including LTL and small packages.
- Pick, pack, scan, weigh, and label items for shipment.
- Generate shipping documents such as Bills of Lading (BOL) and export paperwork (e.g., Commercial Invoices, Shipper’s Letter of Instruction, AES filings).
- Schedule and coordinate outbound truck and rigger shipments.
- Maintain accurate shipping records, including scanning shipping orders and BOLs daily.
- Proficiently use UPS and FedEx shipping systems.
- Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following standard safety procedures.
- Monitor and schedule waste removal and dumpster pickups as needed.
- Manage time effectively to meet daily shipping and receiving goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and shipping software (UPS, FedEx).
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members, vendors, and drivers.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to talk, hear, and communicate effectively in a team setting.
- Pay Range: $20/hour
