Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and repairing drywall or plaster to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using hand tools such as brushes, rollers, sprayers (including airless paint spraying), and power tools.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to determine project scope and specifications.
- Perform surface treatments like caulking, plastering, stucco application, masonry work, and fixture installation to achieve smooth finishes.
- Execute renovation projects involving demolition, framing, trim carpentry, restoration, and remodeling tasks.
- Use construction estimating skills to assess materials needed and plan work efficiently on-site.
- Maintain safety standards by using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA guidelines during all phases of work.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in residential painting, commercial painting, or industrial painting with a solid understanding of construction site protocols.
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, scaffolding setup, and equipment such as airless sprayers.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately for precise project execution.
- Familiarity with construction estimating, basic math skills for measurements and calculations, and carpentry techniques including trim carpentry and frame carpentry.
- Experience with plastering, stucco application, masonry work, caulking, fixture installation, and concrete finishing is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of color theory for effective color matching and aesthetic results.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with good communication skills; handyman experience is a plus.
- Construction site experience including safety awareness and ability to work at heights or in confined spaces as needed.
