Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA) to support commissioning of HVAC and mechanical systems across a variety of project types including healthcare, K-12 and higher education, data centers, and industrial facilities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, field work, and working closely with project teams to deliver high-performing buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform commissioning of HVAC and mechanical systems from design through occupancy
- Conduct design and submittal reviews for mechanical systems
- Develop and execute functional performance tests (FPTs)
- Review sequences of operation for clarity and functionality
- Write and execute functional performance tests.
- Troubleshoot system performance issues in the field
- Document findings in commissioning reports and issue logs
- Coordinate with owners, design teams, contractors, and vendors
- Support development of commissioning plans and specifications
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in mechanical systems (commissioning, TAB, controls, design, or construction)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems (chilled water, hot water, air systems, controls)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and sequences of operation
- Field experience with system startup, troubleshooting, or testing
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred:
- Commissioning experience (CxA or similar role)
- CCP, CxA, or similar certification (or working toward)
- Experience with mission critical or healthcare systems and educational buildings
- Familiarity with tools such as CxAlloy, Procore, or BIM 360
