Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm

Salary, full-time position: $75,000-$90,000 (based on experience)

Job Purpose

Supervise, direct, and coordinate the daily maintenance operations of the KY Shop to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair of company equipment. This role provides hands-on leadership to technicians while supporting shop productivity, quality, and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Works with Dispatch/Terminal Manager to establish priorities and schedule repair services for the day/week
• Lead, assign, and support mechanics in daily repair activities
• Supervise, direct, and hold mechanic staff accountable for performance and productivity
• Daily review of outstanding repair orders with staff to ensure progress and provide troubleshooting support
• Perform repair services as needed during peak workload or to support complex diagnostics
• Evaluate and coordinate outsourced repairs in collaboration with the Shop Team
• Review and close repair orders daily in TMT for accuracy and completeness
• Conduct weekly audits of mechanic work orders and workload schedules
• Oversee parts inventory to ensure proper stock levels, accuracy, and availability
• Maintain inventory control processes including cycle counts and stock limits
• Approve mechanic PTO, assist with scheduling, and support performance reviews and goal setting
• Support training and development of technicians to improve skill level and efficiency
• Maintain regular communication with the shop team and leadership
• Actively support and enforce all safety policies and best practices
• Ensure compliance with DOT, CSA, ELD/HOS, and company standards
• Provide professional communication with drivers, vendors, and internal teams
• Support driver needs when necessary (permits, paperwork, etc.)
• Stay current with industry technology and best practices
• Support shop efficiency and overall operational performance

Qualifications:

• 5 years heavy-duty truck and trailer repair experience
• 2 years in a lead technician or supervisory role preferred
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical knowledge
• Experience with shop management software (TMT preferred)
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to balance hands-on work with team leadership
• Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and comply with company policies

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 90 lbs
• Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts
• Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting throughout the shift
• Occasional exposure to extreme conditions
