Job purpose
The Seasonal Dump Truck Driver is responsible for transporting bulk materials throughout the terminal and supporting vessel unloading operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient movement of materials while maintaining equipment and adhering to all safety procedures.
Duties and responsibilities
- Safely operate a dump truck to transport bulk materials throughout the worksite.
- Support vessel unloading operations and material movement activities.
- Operate a 10-speed manual transmission truck safely and efficiently
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
- Maintain assigned equipment, including fueling, greasing, and monitoring vehicle condition.
- Communicate effectively with loaders, operators, and other team members using CB radio communication.
- Remain alert and aware of surrounding personnel, equipment, and vehicle traffic at all times.
- Safely maneuver and dump materials in designated locations, including elevated dumping ares.
- Follow established traffic patterns, site rules, and safety procedures.
- Assist with site housekeeping and cleanup activites as needed.
- Work collaboratively with operations personnel to maintain efficient workflow during vessel operations.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment issues immediately.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED (or currently completing high school).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to safely operate a 10-speed manual transmission vehicle.
- Strong attention to safety and situational awareness.
- Ability to communicate effectively via CB radio and verbal communication.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work extended shifts and flexible schedules based on vessel operations.
Physical requirements
- Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to climb in and out of trucks multiple times throughout a shift.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections, including bending, reaching, and climbing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to remain alert and focused during long work shifts.
