Job summary

We are seeking an experienced IT & Software Developer who can run day-to-day IT operations for a law office and design, build, and deploy cross‑platform software (Windows, macOS, web) intended to replace our current Clio practice‑management system. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting user devices and networks, and architecting secure, cloud‑hosted applications that integrate with Microsoft 365, Dropbox, and legal workflows.

Key responsibilitiesIT Support and Operations

  • Endpoint management: Install, configure, and maintain Windows and macOS workstations and laptops.
  • Helpdesk: Troubleshoot hardware, OS, application, and user account issues across the firm.
  • Identity and access: Manage Microsoft 365 accounts, groups, and permissions.
  • Storage and backup: Administer Dropbox storage, sync policies, and backup procedures.
  • Networking: Maintain office Wi‑Fi, routing, VLANs, and basic traffic routing and firewall rules.
  • Security and compliance: Implement security best practices for devices, accounts, and data handling consistent with legal confidentiality requirements.
  • Virtual servers and hosting: Provision and maintain virtual servers, backups, and monitoring for internal services.

Software Development and Platform Engineering

  • Product development: Design and build desktop applications for Windows and macOS and responsive web applications to replace Clio functionality.
  • Full‑stack work: Implement front end, back end, APIs, and database schemas; integrate with Microsoft 365 and Dropbox APIs.
  • Cloud hosting: Deploy and manage web services on virtual servers or cloud platforms; handle CI/CD, SSL, and scaling.
  • Data migration: Plan and execute migration of practice data from Clio to the new platform while preserving integrity and audit trails.
  • AI and automation: Build basic ML models, chatbots, and AI agents to automate intake, triage, document classification, and client interactions.
  • Testing and QA: Create automated tests, run security scans, and validate performance and reliability.
  • Documentation: Produce technical and user documentation, run training sessions for attorneys and staff.

Required qualifications

  • 3 years combined experience in IT support and software development.
  • Proven ability to install and troubleshoot Windows and macOS systems.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Dropbox for business use.
  • Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals including Wi‑Fi, routing, and basic firewall configuration.
  • Full‑stack development experience building web applications and desktop apps for Windows and macOS.
  • Familiarity with virtual servers, hosting, deployment, and basic DevOps practices.
  • Basic experience with machine learning, chatbots, or AI agents and integrating them into applications.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, relational databases, and data migration strategies.
  • Commitment to security, privacy, and legal compliance.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience with Clio or other legal practice‑management systems.
  • Experience migrating or replacing SaaS practice‑management platforms.
  • Knowledge of OAuth, SSO, and enterprise identity flows.
  • Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, or managed cloud services.
  • Familiarity with legal workflows, billing, and document management in law firms.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
