Sales Representative

Job Summary

The Sales Representative / Cashier is responsible for assisting customers with product selection, processing sales transactions, and maintaining strong customer relationships. This position focuses on selling ground cover, soil, mulch, compost, decorative rock, sand, gravel, and other landscaping materials to contractors, landscapers, and homeowners. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, organized, and knowledgeable in landscaping or construction materials, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist customers with selecting landscaping and ground cover materials based on project needs
• Promote and sell soil, mulch, compost, decorative rock, gravel, sand, bark, and related products
• Process customer purchases accurately using cash registers and POS systems
• Handle cash, credit card, and account transactions while maintaining balanced cash drawers
• Prepare estimates, invoices, sales orders, and customer receipts
• Answer incoming calls and respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, and deliveries
• Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, landscapers, and repeat customers
• Coordinate with yard personnel and delivery drivers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe sales and cashier areas
• Assist with inventory counts, stocking, and pricing updates
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and provide excellent customer service

Required Skills & Abilities

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills and experience with POS systems
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly
• Knowledge of landscaping materials, soil products, or construction supplies preferred
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Professional attitude with strong problem-solving abilities

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous sales, cashier, retail, or customer service experience preferred
• Experience in landscaping, nursery, construction materials, or related industries
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks including bending, reaching, and carrying materials as needed

Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with every other Saturday also included.
