BASIC FUNCTION: The Extended Day Program Assistant will help provide a quality extended day enrichment and recreational programming for KLA’s primary and secondary students enrolled. During the program the EDPA will supervise children during homework time, distribute and monitor daily snack, and plan/organize and oversee structured activities to include arts and crafts, supervised play, etc. individual will also be responsible for verification of parent ID at pick up via sign out and early release forms from parents for early pickups. Position hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Wednesday and on early release days from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm. Candidate must be highly organized and responsible, work well with children grades K-8 to ensure students are safe and supervised daily until picked up. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, such as Education, Technology, Social Recreation, Arts and Crafts, and Physical Education. The ideal candidate will have educational experience either working as a tutor and/or in a classroom setting. The ability to primarily engage Middle school students with fun organized activities. (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. Assist with program administrative duties such as attendance, snack distribution, and dismissal Energetic and passionate about working with ALL grade levels TK - 8th Grade Supervise children in groups and individually Must be flexible and a Team Player

KEY ROLES

  • Has the ability to implement programs and follow basic lesson plans.
  • Will act accordingly with the rules, regulations and mission of KLA.
  • Be personable, energetic and engaging with KLA parents and community.
  • Maintains compliance with all ASES Education Code requirements. 
  • Attends required program meetings/trainings as scheduled by SDCOE and/or school. 
  • Responsible for efficient and accurate attendance records. 
  • Supervise children in groups and individually
  • Be actively engaged with students at all times
  • Provide organized play opportunities during recess and other times
  • Assist with special events like field trips and community service projects

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the program.
  • Ability to facilitate and supervise primary & secondary students
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • At least 18 years of age and able to provide own transportation to program site

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

EDUCATION: 

  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice.
  • Tuberculin skin test before employment and every four years thereafter.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Common Core Standards
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Evidence of effective leadership skills
  • Experience in extracurricular activities

 

 

ENVIORNMENT: Indoor, classroom setting, outdoor setting.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, feel, talk and hear.
  • Must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required including close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
