Viva Senior Living is seeking a talented and dependable Cook to join our team at our 56-bed memory care community in Liverpool, NY!

Our community specializes in caring for individuals living with memory loss and dementia. We are looking for a Cook who is passionate about food, committed to quality, and ready to bring their skills to a warm and supportive senior living environment.

What You'll Do

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals while ensuring that residents receive nutritious, appealing food that meets their individual dietary needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and cooking meals according to established menus, recipes, nutritional programs, and individual dietary requirements.
• Ensuring meals are flavorful, visually appealing, properly portioned, and served at the appropriate temperature.
• Maintaining high standards for food quality, presentation, safety, and sanitation.
• Preparing the appropriate quantities of food to meet the needs of our residents.
• Ensuring residents receive meals consistent with their individual dietary requirements and meal plans.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, including proper food storage, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.
• Safely operating kitchen equipment and following all food safety and infection control guidelines.
• Assisting with ordering, receiving, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels of food and departmental supplies.
• Working efficiently to ensure meals are prepared and served on time.
• Preparing for upcoming meal periods and kitchen needs during downtime.
• Assisting with the orientation and training of new Dining Services team members.
• Communicating concerns or issues involving food service operations to the Dining Service Director.
• Participating in emergency preparedness, safety training, drills, and other required training programs.
• Working collaboratively with fellow team members to create a positive and welcoming dining experience for residents and their families.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

• A high school diploma or GED.
• A passion for preparing quality food and serving older adults.
• The ability to follow menus, recipes, dietary requirements, and food safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• The ability to work efficiently and maintain a consistent pace in a busy kitchen environment.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Compassion, patience, and respect when working around residents living with dementia and memory loss.
• The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Flexibility to work scheduled shifts and assist with additional coverage when needed.
• A commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality, dignity, rights, and safety.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Move throughout the workday and perform the physical duties associated with food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 25 pounds.
• Work safely with kitchen equipment and supplies.
• Meet the general health and physical requirements of the position.
• Participate in emergency procedures and assist with resident evacuation when necessary.
