The Child Development Center at Keene State College invites applications for an Associate Teacher to provide support in the preschool classroom (a multi-age grouping of eighteen 2.9 to 4.11-year-olds) and will work in partnership with the center staff to achieve highest standards of quality for children, families and college students. This is a full-time and benefited position through mid-August to mid-June (FTE 88.46%)

The Child Development Center (CDC), located on the Keene State College campus in Elliot Center, is a demonstration early childhood education site for Keene State College students, practicing professionals, and young children and their families. The Center strives to model best practices by offering nurturing environments where young children are encouraged to explore, to be creative, to cultivate positive relationships, to experience the joy of learning, and to develop a sense of community.

The CDC is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing excellent practical experiences for students studying to enter the teaching profession, or a related profession, with young children. Undergraduate and graduate students are offered supervised experiences under the guidance of early childhood professionals, in the direct education and care of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Through collaboration, the CDC staff contributes to an educational environment that encourages professionalism, growth, and diversity. The Associate Teacher will provide support in a preschool classroom.

Duties/Responsibilities

(75%)

  • Co-develop and imement developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum, including diversity and anti-bias education.
  • Support young children with kindness and respect.
  • Model appropriate and nurturing child guidance.
  • Observe and record children's progress and maintain children's records. foster positive relationships with team members, children, families and college students.

(10%)

  • Maintain clean, organized, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment that reflects best practices and models excellence.
  • Refresh learning environment and keep materials, equipment and sup ies organized, including outdoor education.

(5%)

  • Engage with each family, maintain respectful on-going communication with families, establish positive rapport with each family.
  • Co-an family engagement program for classroom.

(10%)

  • Meet monthly with CDC director, comete annual evaluation process. Attend CDC staff meetings, participate on committees and special projects.
  • Attain NH Credential within 6 months and train in Pyramid Model as guided by professional development expectations.
  • Follow and uphold all procedures and policies of the Child Development Center and Keene State College.

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, child development, or equivalent (Equivalence is defined as 60 college credits, with 30 college credits in Early Childhood Education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education) and one year's experience and/or supervised internships working with young children in a school/center.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to comply with NH Child Care Program Licensing associate teacher requirements, CPR and First Aid training, and background checks.
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood Education and child development.
  • Experience working with young children in a College/University laboratory center or with experience teaching in a Granite Steps for Quality center with Pyramid Model experience.

Compensation Pay Range

$12.86 - $21.11
