The Education Department at Keene State College is seeking qualified applicants for adjunct faculty positions in Elementary Education, for the Fall 2025 semester.

These are part-time non-benefitted positions. We seek applicants who can teach the following courses in the program:

Elementary Methods: Integrating Math, Science and Literacy (EDUC 322)- This course explores best practices for teaching math, science, and engineering, while integrating literacy. Students learn practical approaches to creating learning environments in which children develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions for mathematical and scientific thinking, and engineering design. Standards-based unit planning, with an emphasis on student learning and reflection on teaching, are the foci during the extended supervised field experience. Classroom management skills, including behavioral considerations, reflection, and techniques are explored and applied in the elementary classroom.

Elementary Methods: Literacy and Social Studies (EDUC 321) - Integration of theoretical and practical approaches to literacy and social studies instruction in grades K-6. Application of curriculum development (lesson planning and cross-curricular integration), literacy instruction and assessment, children's literature, pedagogical practices and arts integration through extended field experiences.

Our students come from diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds, with a high percentage of first generation college students. By the time Keene State College students complete their undergraduate experience they develop critical thinking, creative inquiry, intercultural competence, civic engagement, and commitment to well-being that will serve them as active citizens and lifelong learners. The Education Department at Keene State College is in the ongoing process of enhancing the curriculum in our program to better prepare our future educators for today’s diverse classrooms. The department utilizes assessments, feedback from the field, and our collective expertise to continually improve and evolve the education program. The Education Department includes both undergraduate and graduate programs in the preparation of teachers. Keene State College holds CAEP accreditation for all educator preparation programs.

Required Qualifications

Earned Master’s degree in Education or related field by January 1, 2025.

Minimum of five years full-time teaching experience in public schools at the elementary level (K-6)

Availability to teach in-person, during the day

Preferred Qualifications

Strong background in math and science content and pedagogy

Expertise in literacy content and pedagogy

Experience teaching in an inclusive environment with diverse student populations (examples: SES, students with IEPs and 504 plans, ELL, cultural, and racial/ethnic)

College teaching experience

Supervision experience
