What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Aide position at Keene Housing?
Keene Housing’s (KH) Maintenance Aide II position provides the opportunity for an individual to work at one of the nation’s leaders in affordable housing policy development. As participants in the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s groundbreaking Moving to Work Demonstration program (MTW), KH is blazing new trails in the areas of policy reform, affordable housing development, and resident services.
The Maintenance Aide II position is full-time and is essential in making sure that KH owned and managed properties remain high-quality, safe homes for the region’s low-income elderly, disabled and working households.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Receives and completes written work orders and verbal assignments from the Director of Facilities and Assets or Supervisor Foreman.
- Performs apartment turnover duties, including patching, painting, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, fixture replacement, cleaning, and preparing units for occupancy.
- Repairs and maintains building interiors, including walls, ceilings, doors, flooring, cabinetry, and other fixtures.
- Maintains and repairs building plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective components.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems, equipment, and machinery.
- Repairs parking lots and sidewalks using asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
- Operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks as needed.
- Maintains and repairs wood components, doors, windows, and other building structures.
- Assists with furniture moves, apartment setup, supply delivery, storage, and other facilities-related tasks.
- Participates in the after-hours on-call rotation and responds to assigned emergencies.
- Maintains strict confidentiality when dealing with clients and residents.
- Obtains Mitsubishi HVAC Certification within the first year of employment, as deemed appropriate by the Director of Facilities and Assets. Staff hired prior to January 1, 2023, are exempt.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED and have a minimum of 3 years maintenance experience.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
