Cafeteria Worker Pool
POSITION REPORTS TO: Cafeteria Manager
DEPARTMENT: Culinary
LOCATION: KISD
STATUS: FT or PT/Hourly/Non-Exempt/Safety Sensitive
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provide friendly, responsive service in a clean and safe environment to service our customers: k-12 students!
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- At least one year of food handling experience required
- Must possess a food handler’s card within two (2) weeks of hire, if applicable
- Sensitivity and respect for people of various backgrounds, cultures, experiences and socio-economic situations required
- Basic cooking and cleaning skills required
- Positive and energetic personalities are appreciated
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and cook food as per recipes, production records and manager instruction
- Keep and clean and safe work area including equipment, utensils, pots and pans
- Maintain clean and well stocked serving areas including the serving line, salad bars and milk boxes
- Service meals to students, staff and parents
- Be ready and willing to assist fellow workers as situations arise
- Assist in stocking deliveries in a safe manner, rotating stock utilizing FIFO
- Sweep and mop floors as needed • Remove trash from kitchens/dining rooms as applicable
- Follow all local and CHILD NUTRITION DEPARTMENT health regulations
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the cafeteria as directed by the manager or immediate supervisor
- Other duties, as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English and/or dominate language at the school
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
- Be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop
- Weekly hours may vary depending on school schedule and breaks
- Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver cases of food frequently weighing from 25 to 40 pounds
