They are very knowledgeable about different structural systems and layouts. They support the development of the scope, schedule, and budget for projects. Top 5 role RESPONSIBILITIES:DEVELOP STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND LAYOUTS

• Utilize Revit to develop structural layouts, framing systems, connection concepts, and general arrangement drawings that support safe, efficient, and constructible project execution.
• Create and coordinate structural design packages, including plans, sections, details, and layout drawings.
• Collaborate with engineers to translate structural calculations and requirements into practical, buildable designs.
• Incorporate structural systems that align with process, mechanical, and architectural design requirements.
• Model existing structures utilizing existing drawings, field notes, and 3D laser scans.
  
  

SUPPORT STRUCTURAL DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRAINT IDENTIFICATION

• Support engineers by developing structural layouts and details based on design criteria, calculations, and engineering direction.
• Interpret structural design intent and translate it into practical, buildable layouts and detailing.
• Evaluate design constraints including space limitations, access, clearances, connection feasibility, material selection, and installation requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to resolve design conflicts and improve layout efficiency.
• Apply geometric reasoning and spatial understanding to ensure proper fit, alignment, and coordination of structural components.
• Use field feedback, past project experience, and lessons learned to improve design quality and reduce rework.
• Escalate design questions or gaps to the appropriate engineering resources when technical validation or analysis is required.
  
  

PRODUCE AND COORDINATE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION

• Produce detailed structural drawings and documentation to support fabrication and construction activities.
• Coordinate structural design with architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and trade partners to ensure alignment across all disciplines.
• Develop accurate and complete construction documents that meet expectations for quality, clarity, completeness, and timeliness.
• Support multidisciplinary coordination to identify and resolve clashes, interferences, and constructability issues prior to construction.
• Perform model clash detection utilizing Navisworks and other design software.
• Maintain consistency between models, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Support development of technical specifications, design scope documents, and material requirements as needed.
  
  

DESIGN TEAM COLLABORATION AND COORDINATION

• Participate in coordination meetings with project stakeholders, including owners, engineers, architects, contractors, and field personnel.
• Communicate design intent clearly and proactively to support alignment and decisionmaking across the project team.
• Work collaboratively to resolve design issues, answer questions, and support production and field execution.
• Support project coordination efforts by identifying and helping resolve design conflicts and integration issues early.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and technical communication to ensure consistent and accurate design information flow.
• Utilize collaboration tools and platforms to track design updates, action items, and project communication.
• Maintain awareness of project schedule, budget, and commitments, and communicate risks to the team.
  
  

DESIGN QUALITY, SAFETY, AND COMPLIANCE

• Design structural systems with a focus on safety for construction personnel, operators, and the public, adhering to all applicable standards.
• Identify potential safety hazards, including fall protection, access, egress, and clearance requirements, and incorporate mitigation into the design.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, OSHA, and projectspecific requirements.
• Perform jobsite observations and field verification to ensure design accuracy and identify improvement opportunities.
• Review structural shop drawings and submittals for conformance with design intent and project requirements.
• Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of design practices and standards.
• Maintain and grow technical knowledge of structural systems, materials, and design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor).
  
  

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Certificate in construction related design/drafting or higher OR at least 2 years of directly related experience.
• Working knowledge of basic computer programs like Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and online collaboration tools.
• Proficiency in Revit is required, with knowledge of Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Inventor, etc., beneficial.
• Experience working with 3D laser scanning in 3D models, beneficial.
• Ability to travel with some limited overnights, by air and ground.
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Exerting 2050 pounds of force occasionally, 1025 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
• Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
• Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, sitting, and handling, typical of office work.
• Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs, and work in confined spaces and near loud equipment.
• Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.
• Must be able to move safely over uneven, irregular, or steep terrain and within confined spaces.
• Must be able to respond quickly to sounds and see and respond to dangerous situations.
• Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
• Must be able to work in cold/hot environments and on concrete floors.
• Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching.
• Must be able to stand for extended durations.
