New Journeys is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Structured Day Program Specialist to join our team. This role provides supervision, support, and hands-on care to participants in our Structured Day Program, ensuring their safety, well-being, and active engagement in daily living and program activities. Services are designed to strengthen skills for independence, productivity, community inclusion, and socialization.
A Support Staff Specialist assists seniors with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, as well as individuals with traumatic brain injuries, in our social model structured day program. Our program provides daytime respite care, cognitive activities, social interaction, and community outings that enable participants to maintain and enhance their independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:7 supervision
- Support participants with:
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)
- Socialization, communication, mobility, money management, household skills
- Assist with program activities that promote independence and community inclusion.
- Complete timely documentation, case notes, and incident reports.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a CNA, PCA, or HHA preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, stand/walk for long periods, and perform physical tasks (stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching).
- Subject to NYS Department of Human Services background check.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
