Patient Safety Aide - Sitters - Full Time Evenings (3:00PM to11:30AM) (Union, Non-Exempt)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accountable to the unit Manager and/or the Director of the department.
• Assist Patients to and from activities.
• Assists with meals and feeding.
• Carry out a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of the patients that includes but not limited to: Group social activities, indoor and outdoor activities, daily walks, spiritual programs, opportunity for involvement in planning and implementation of the activity, exercise activities, one-on-one activities and promotion of unit interaction.
• Demonstrates and promotes compliance to infection control, legal, and safety standards.
• Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.
• Document all interaction with patient and/or family.
• Encourage Family participation in activities and document outcomes Is a member of the nursing care team.
• Organizes and prioritizes activities considering patient status and preferences, module activities, and other commitments. Completes all assignments in an organized and punctual manner.
• Performs duties as directed by a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• Provides care with sensitivity to the cultural needs of patients and with regard to their rights and privacy. Demonstrates knowledge of the current condition of the patient and recognizes situations needing nursing supervision. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Safety Aide provides direct patient assistance with basic daily activities to a group of assigned patients. The Safety Aide assists the RN in data collection and documents appropriately to hospital standards.

Pay Transparency

The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 - $24.66. POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of an RN or LVN, provides basic assistance and observation to a group of assigned patients in medical/surgical, oncology, rehabilitation, and transitional care nursing units. Demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization. Applies good interpersonal and communication process utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
