KEARNEY HIGH SCHOOL – HEAD FOOTBALL COACH POSITION
The Kearney High Bearcats are one of Nebraska’s premier Class A high school football programs. A tradition-rich powerhouse built on excellence, discipline, and community pride. Competing at the Class A level, the Bearcats have qualified for the state playoffs 16 consecutive years and are recognized statewide for their competitive consistency, player development, and commitment to doing things the right way, on and off the field.
Kearney High School seeks an experienced, passionate leader to guide our football program into its next chapter of success.
Position Overview
The Head Football Coach is responsible for leading all aspects of the Kearney High Football program, including player and coach development, culture-building, community engagement, and maintaining the championship-level standards that define Bearcat Athletics.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success as a head or assistant football coach at the high school or collegiate level.
- Proven ability to build and sustain a positive, disciplined, and competitive team culture.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with athletes, staff, parents, and the community.
- Understanding of the academic and character development mission of Kearney High School.
- Nebraska Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain) preferred; teaching positions are available in multiple content areas.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the Kearney High Football program in alignment with district, school, and NSAA standards.
- Develop student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
- Oversee all levels of the football program (9–12), including staff hiring, training, and evaluation.
- Implement offseason strength and conditioning programs.
- Engage positively with parents, alumni, and the Kearney community to support program excellence.
