What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at KDMK?
The function of the material handlers is to process parts from the shipping dock to the warehouse, to the assembly areas, and back to the warehouse and dock for shipping to the customer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Loads and unloads materials in warehouses and storage facilities.
2. Receives materials into an organization and verifies materials against invoices to ensure the accuracy of the delivery. Counts or weighs parts to check quantity accuracy. Workers contact the supplier when shipment is inaccurate to rectify the discrepancy.
3. Pick parts for delivery to assembly area. Fill out the appropriate paperwork for delivery to the assembly area.
4. Performs transactions in the inventory system to enter new quantities and, during shipping transactions, to remove inventory from stock.
5. May use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts and dollies to bring products and materials to an appropriate location.
6. Handles necessary documentation while receiving or sending materials
7. Ensures that proper quantities are kept for each type of stock item
8. Knows the correct place in the factory or warehouse floor where every item should be stored.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows all safety rules to ensure a safe workplace.
- Performs 5S activities and maintains to ensure an orderly and safe workplace
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Skills, Abilities, Training/Education, and Experience)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 0 – 3 years’ previous material handling experience
- Physical stamina to be able to walk around the floor area and perform moderate to heavy lifting repetitively
- Know how to sort and classify things
- Have basic math skills to issue proper documents while receiving, moving, and shipping material
- Basic computer skills for recording of movement of inventory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role.
- Ability to work 8 - 12 hours standing and bending, repetitive lifting up to 40 pounds, and extensive walking.
- Good vision for matching part numbers
