KDI is a rapidly growing medical device contract manufacturer with a reputation for delivering an extraordinary customer experience. As we scale, we're adding talented people who want to be part of that growth story — not just filling a seat, but helping shape where the company goes next. We're looking for a seasoned Manufacturing Project Engineer who thrives in a dynamic, small-team environment and can move quickly without sacrificing quality or compliance. If you bring deep medical device expertise, a strong project management instinct, and the communication skills to serve as a trusted partner to both customers and colleagues, this role offers high visibility and real opportunity to grow with us.
What you'll own
- Lead new product introductions into KDI manufacturing — from customer kickoff through production handoff
- Serve as the primary technical liaison to customers, managing specifications, change communications, and issue resolution
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical medical system assembly and machine shop operations
- Define build schedules, key milestones, and project status reports for internal teams and external stakeholders
- Author Work Instructions, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), PFMEAs, and Risk Management Plans
- Design fixtures and tooling using SolidWorks; drive design reviews and process validations
- Champion Lean and continuous improvement initiatives across production
What we're looking for
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
- 8–15 years of manufacturing process development experience in the medical device industry
- Contract manufacturing experience — you understand what it takes to serve multiple customers with competing priorities
- Solid knowledge of cGMP and/or ISO 13485
- Exceptional communication skills — written, verbal, and cross-functional
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and pivot as priorities shift
Nice to have
- SolidWorks proficiency
- Experience with Class I and Class II medical device assembly and/or machining
- Demonstrated Lean / Six Sigma experience
At KDI, small team means big impact. You'll work directly alongside production staff, senior leadership, and customers — and your decisions will matter from day one. A can-do attitude and the ability to adapt quickly aren't just nice-to-haves here; they're essential to how we operate.
