Summary:

Performs diversified raw material and/or finished product testing according to established procedures in all areas of the analytical laboratory.  Responsible for analytical methods development and validation of test materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains a working knowledge of raw material control and/or finished product analysis.
• May discuss procedural problems with customers and/or interplant personnel.
• Performs daily raw material in-process bulk and/or finished product testing to support production.
• Operates analytical instrumentation: IR spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph and UV-visible spectrophotometer, HPLC, XRF and Karl Fischer.
• Keeps inventory on chemicals and apparatus and writes purchase orders for these materials.
• Develops test methods for and performs new product assays.
• Performs equipment installation/operational/performance qualification on lab equipment.
• Knowledge of USP requirements.
• Qualifies/transforms products to test methods (completes documentation of such).
• Maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Contributes suggestions for improving laboratory methods and procedures.
• Performs special project work with minimum supervision.
• Participates in the analytical in-house education training program.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two years college or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of industry or relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to operate diverse analytical lab equipment.
• Analytical procedure development, validation experience, and writing skills.
• Effective communication skills - internal and customer contact re-procedure development or resolution of procedure concern.

Salary : $65,000 - $68,000
