At Kdc/one, a leading producer of beauty and personal care products, you’ll join a state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Groveport, OH and own the performance of high‑speed filling and packaging operations. As our Filling Line Optimization Engineer, you’ll plan and direct improvements across the floor, champion continuous improvement, and guide equipment selection that enables new launches and cost savings.
A day in the lifeYou start your day on the floor, walking the lines and reviewing live performance dashboards. You spot a pattern of small stops, then partner with operators and mechanics to troubleshoot root causes. By mid‑morning, you’re finalizing the qualification plan for a new filler, ensuring protocol, execution, and documentation are cGMP compliant. After lunch, you 3D‑print a prototype guide to reduce changeover time, then coach a cross‑functional team through DMAIC to cut downtime. You close the day by submitting a concise weekly project status summary and validating that capital spend is tracking to plan.
What you’ll impact- Continuously elevate filling and packaging performance across high-speed and agile systems.
- Troubleshoot issues and drive process improvements that enhance quality and throughput.
- Develop and implement systems to measure line performance; prioritize actions to reduce downtime and small stops.
- Lead equipment selection, development, and implementation for new products, new processes, and capacity expansion.
- Own equipment and process qualifications for newly installed technologies.
- Build proposals, assemble cost estimates, and gather vendor quotes for projects and products.
- Provide hands-on leadership in Lean, DMAIC, and other continuous improvement methodologies; train and coach teams.
- Track improvement initiatives and deliver weekly updates on project status.
- Participate in loss analysis studies to uncover improvement opportunities.
- Apply 3D printing and 3D scanning to accelerate responsiveness and reduce cost.
- Ensure capital projects are delivered within budget.
- Train line leads, operators, and mechanics in critical SOPs and CI practices.
- Support Health & Safety programs and cGMP initiatives.
- Prepare preliminary budgets, SOPs, Work Instructions, and related documentation per company policy.
- Safeguard sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance; support off‑shifts as needed and perform other related duties as required.
- BS in an engineering discipline (Mechanical or Industrial preferred) or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5 years in a production environment—preferably FDA-regulated—working with high-speed and flexible filling/packaging systems.
