Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our local shipping, mailbox rental, and printing retail environment, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales performance. He or she will open and close this store. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage various tasks efficiently.
Ideal candidate has a post-high school education (college coursework or a degree), two years or more of retail store operations experience, strong supervisory/managerial/leadership skills, excellent computer/internet/software knowledge, and the physical ability to perform this job (lifting, bending, etc.). This ideal candidate knows how to "listen and lead". He or she must have a dynamic personality and must be able to motivate a team to optimize performance.
Responsibilities
- Performs personnel management, which includes recruiting, training, scheduling, and coaching associates while fostering a positive work environment.
- Schedules work assignments and facilitates weekly or monthly staff meetings.
- Assist in overseeing daily store operations and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage inventory control processes including ordering, stocking, and merchandising products effectively.
- Supervise staff during shifts, providing guidance on customer service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Reviews daily employee timesheets and submits for payroll processing.
- Creates or redesigns artwork and promotional material for print.
- Engage with customers to provide outstanding service, resolve issues, and enhance their shopping experience.
- Implement marketing strategies to drive sales and promote store promotions effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organized store environment while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Assistant Manager or in a supervisory role within a retail environment is preferred.
- Advanced education degree, coursework, or tech school desired.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence others positively.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for effective communication with diverse customers.
- Proficient in cash handling procedures and POS systems for efficient transaction processing.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail for inventory management and administrative tasks.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in team management and employee development.
- Familiarity with budgeting practices and financial reporting is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with effective phone etiquette.
- Outstanding phone skills.
- Bona fide management/leadership skills.
