This Quality Control Inspector role is focused on ensuring product quality throughout a metal fabrication manufacturing process. Key responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Measure and inspect parts using calipers, tape measures, and other inspection tools.
- Verify compliance with customer specifications, blueprints, tolerances, and company quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to ISO procedures and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Document quality issues, corrective actions, and inspection results.
- Investigate customer quality complaints and help implement solutions.
- Conduct daily quality audits throughout fabrication, paint, and shipping areas.
- Manage calibration systems and Engineering Change Request (ECR) processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, 6S efforts, and employee training.
Required Experience & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of quality inspection experience in the metal fabrication industry.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Understanding of metals, plastics, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to analyze specifications and tolerances.
- Strong math, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical & Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, vibration, and moving equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and handling materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Use of PPE including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
- Standard 40-hour workweek with occasional mandatory overtime.
