The Safety Specialist-2nd shift will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS systems.
Essential Functions:
- Educate and communicate KCC safety policies/procedures.
- Participate in the development of short and long-term safety goals.
- Present training modules for small and large groups.
- Participate in safety committees to drive shop floor safety presence.
- Facilitate root cause investigations for all reported incidents, no matter how minor, in unison with shop floor leadership.
- Complete all required inspections and drive closure to findings.
- Complete site hazard analysis through the JSA program.
- Assist with proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Develop relationships with professional organizations and vendors.
- Participate in government agency inspections.
- Work off shift hours and respond to calls when needed.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the EHS Manager.
- 1-5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing setting or construction setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health.
- Must have experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to a changing work environment.
- Microsoft products experience preferred
- Training experience
- Root cause investigation skills
- Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
- Ability to perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, lifting up-to 50 lbs.
- Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
