KCC is seeking a driven individual with a passion for safety to help drive KCC towards world class safety performance on 2nd shift. Shift time will be from 2:00 PM–11:00 PM Monday thru Friday with some variances according to the production schedule.

The Safety Specialist-2nd shift will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS systems.

Essential Functions:

• Educate and communicate KCC safety policies/procedures.
• Participate in the development of short and long-term safety goals.
• Present training modules for small and large groups.
• Participate in safety committees to drive shop floor safety presence.
• Facilitate root cause investigations for all reported incidents, no matter how minor, in unison with shop floor leadership.
• Complete all required inspections and drive closure to findings.
• Complete site hazard analysis through the JSA program.
• Assist with proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
• Develop relationships with professional organizations and vendors.
• Participate in government agency inspections.
• Work off shift hours and respond to calls when needed.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the EHS Manager.
  
  
  

Requirements:

• 1-5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing setting or construction setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health.
• Must have experience working in a team environment.
• Ability to be flexible and adjust to a changing work environment.
  
  
  

Preferred:

• Microsoft products experience preferred
• Training experience
• Root cause investigation skills
  
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
• Ability to perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, lifting up-to 50 lbs.
• Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
