We are working on behalf of an exponentially growing organization seeking to hire a Structural Engineer to join their team
The role will be responsible for ensuring the safety, stability, and code compliance of large-scale trade show exhibits, hanging signs, and branded environments. Their primary role is to review and stamp designs (particularly signs weighing over 500 lbs), certifying that structures can withstand show-floor rigging requirements.
A structural engineer will specifically focus on event and exhibit infrastructure. Their key responsibilities include:
- Signing & Stamping Blueprints: Reviewing and legally stamping engineering plans so exhibits and heavy overhead structures comply with convention center and city building codes.
- Calculating Load Capacities: Analyzing weight distribution to ensure modular walls, large display rigs, and overhead signs are safe and well within the venue's rigging limits.
- Material Testing & Evaluation: Choosing the right materials to provide maximum durability while keeping structures lightweight and easy to transport and assemble.
- Estimate the weight of standard trade show materials.
- Outline the common rules and permitting fees for hanging signs at major venues.
