What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Superintendent position at KC Painting & Coatings?
KCPC is looking for a strong, field-driven Superintendent to lead commercial painting and coatings operations across active job sites.
This is a key leadership role for someone who knows how to lead field operations, coordinate crews, communicate effectively with general contractors, solve problems quickly, and keep multiple projects moving safely, efficiently, and professionally. The Superintendent is directly responsible for driving production, safety, quality, and team development across active projects.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and supervise field crews across active commercial job sites
- Direct daily operations and keep work aligned with project schedules, scope, and production goals
- Serve as point of contact with GC superintendents and internal project leadership
- Review plans, specifications, and drawings to guide field execution
- Monitor site conditions and proactively resolve field issues, delays, and safety concerns
- Enforce jobsite safety standards, conduct daily safety checks, and ensure PPE compliance
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites
- Support crews hands-on when needed to keep production on track
- Participate in pre-job meetings, punch walks, and project closeout
- Train, mentor, and develop Field Coordinators and other crew members
- Maintain accurate jobsite reporting, including labor hours, progress, incidents, and material usage
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience supervising field operations in construction, preferably in commercial painting or coatings
- Strong ability to read blueprints, specs, and technical documents
- Proven leadership and communication skills
- Solid understanding of construction safety procedures and site protocols
- Strong problem-solving ability and field decision-making skills
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Willingness to travel as needed for project requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual: English / Spanish
- OSHA 30
- CPR / First Aid
- Aerial lift and scaffolding certification
Physical / Work Environment
This role requires active field presence and the ability to climb ladders, work at heights, lift up to 50 lbs., move through active construction sites, and work in outdoor conditions as needed.
