About The Role

You’ll join a specialist engineering team supporting critical infrastructure within a highly regulated, high-hazard environment. In this role, you’ll help ensure complex facilities are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose through robust civil engineering design and assessment.

This position is ideal if you have strong experience in civil or structural engineering and want to apply your expertise in a technically challenging and safety-critical setting.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll lead the delivery and assessment of civil and structural engineering design packages for complex infrastructure, ensuring all outputs meet stringent safety and regulatory requirements. You’ll support periodic safety reviews through site inspections, walkdowns, and technical documentation, while defining operational constraints and reviewing maintenance procedures. You’ll also assess asset integrity, material condition, and ageing mechanisms to support ongoing safe operation.

Working in a highly regulated environment, you’ll act as an intelligent customer, ensuring contractor deliverables meet contract and safety expectations, and you’ll promote a strong safety and security culture across all activities.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience assessing designs for reinforced concrete and steel structures subject to dynamic loads (e.g. seismic, blast, environmental loading).
  • Experience working with reinforced concrete and steelwork structures in complex environments (e.g. marine or heavy infrastructure).
  • Proven ability to produce technical justifications for engineering design changes in regulated or high-risk industries.
  • Broad engineering knowledge across the lifecycle: design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Incorporated Engineer Status (or equivalent experience)

Location

The role is Hybrid with occasional visits to site in Helensburgh, Argyll & Bute.

Your own transport is essential.

SC Clearance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the Operational Backbone: Craft memos, conduct detailed file reviews, and manage requests with precision using the customer database. You'll also prepare and deliver briefings to senior leadership, draft binding documents, and provide essential operational support across the team.

  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Maintain a continuous intelligence watch, keeping communication channels open with key components and partner organizations.
  • Be a Knowledge Leader: Stay current on cutting-edge technologies and evolving subject matter to inform and enhance operations.
  • Mentor and Lead: Provide guidance to junior professionals and, when needed, step into leadership roles as a team or task lead.
  • Apply Expertise: Use your comprehensive knowledge of intelligence operations—including principles, methods, processes, and regulations—to make informed decisions and drive excellence.

Required Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI with a Polygraph
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, conflict resolution techniques, and proven ability to perform under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Computer Literacy: Must have functional computer literacy and be proficient in customer computer and network applications

Basic Compensation:

$175,800 to $214,900

This range is for the Virginia area only.

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
