A kind, family-oriented household in Syosset is seeking an experienced and dependable full-time nanny/family assistant to care for their energetic 2-year-old son and assist with light household support. The family recently transitioned from a live-in nanny and au pair arrangement and now needs someone proactive, patient, and reliable who can help create balance at home.
Mom is currently home full-time and very hands-on, while dad travels frequently for work. The right nanny will bring consistency, structure, and calm to a lively home environment and be comfortable working alongside mom to keep things running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Loving, engaging care for the 2-year-old (meals, naps, playtime, developmental activities, outdoor time)
- Morning household help: tidying kitchen, doing dishes, loading/unloading dishwasher, making beds, and organizing play and living areas
- Family laundry (for 3 people) and maintaining children’s and shared spaces in order
- No deep cleaning required — the family has a professional cleaning team once a week, but the nanny should manage daily tidying and organization
- Simple meal prep for the toddler and light family prep (washing/steaming vegetables, prepping snacks — no full cooking)
- Driving the child safely to and from local school or activities (must have own car)
- Supporting daily routines and being proactive about what needs to get done
- Downtime during the morning hours while the child is at school or with mom, as long as essential household tasks are completed
- Occasional weekend care or evening coverage
✨ Requirements:
- Strong experience with toddlers (2 years old and up)
- Fluent English speaker for clear communication
- Must drive and have own car (no family car provided)
- Dependable, flexible, and proactive personality
- Comfortable working alongside a stay-at-home mom and extended family
- Non-smoker
- Physically capable and active enough to keep up with a busy toddler
- Flexible for rotating weekend scheduling (Saturday/Sunday with notice)
- Long-term commitment preferred (1 year)
- Must be comfortable taking on expanded household responsibilities as the child begins school full-time in fall
- Live-out preferred; private guest space available if live-in ever considered
Additional Details:
- Family has a weekly deep cleaner — nanny focuses on tidying, dishes, family laundry, and daily organization
- Future responsibilities may include household management tasks such as organizing, restocking, family laundry (3 people), tidying common areas, and easy meal prep for the child and light family support
- Mom currently handles school drop-offs but nanny may assist in the future
- Toddler naps 1:00–3:00 PM daily
- Dad travels frequently for work — reliability and initiative are essential
- Family cooks often; help maintaining kitchen order and running light household routines is appreciated
- The goal is to find a warm, steady, experienced caregiver who can grow with the family and evolve into a hybrid nanny/household manager role as needs shift
- Compensation based on hours, experience, and flexibility:
- Weekdays: $25–28/hour
- Weekends: $30/hour
- Higher range possible for candidates comfortable taking on broader household tasks beyond childcare
Salary : $25 - $30
