Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers with dry van trailers across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight efficiently, utilizing your experience with load securing techniques to prevent damage during transit
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and cargo securement equipment
- Manage route driving schedules to ensure timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with Hours of Service regulations
- Handle freight that may include refrigerated trailers, flatbed loads, tankers, or other specialized equipment as needed
- Use manual transmission trucks confidently, demonstrating precise control and smooth shifting skills
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to confirm delivery details and resolve any issues promptly
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers in an over-the-road setting
- Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks and handling various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar equipment
- Experience with freight handling including load & unload procedures and securing cargo for transit
- Familiarity with route driving strategies to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency
- Ability to operate forklifts or other loading equipment is a plus but not required
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols related to commercial driving and freight transportation
