Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Family Law Attorney role based in Dallas, TX. The attorney will manage a family law caseload from intake through resolution, including client consultations, case assessment, and strategy development. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements; conducting legal research; and preparing for and appearing at hearings, mediations, and trials. The role involves taking and defending depositions, negotiating with opposing counsel, and regularly communicating with clients to provide updates, advice, and guidance. The attorney will work closely with firm leadership and staff to ensure efficient case management, uphold high professional and ethical standards, and support the firm’s commitment to inclusive representation, including for LGBTQ families and non-traditional parents.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law and Family Law, with experience handling a range of family law matters from simple to complex.
- Ability to analyze Legal Issues, conduct thorough legal research, and apply case law and statutes to client matters.
- Proficiency in drafting and arguing Motions, including temporary orders, enforcement actions, and post-judgment relief.
- Experience preparing for and conducting Depositions, including examining parties, experts, and fact witnesses.
- Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas (or eligible for timely admission).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and organization.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, client-centered advocacy, including sensitivity to LGBTQ clients and diverse family structures.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines, work collaboratively with a small team, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Trial and mediation experience in family law courts in Texas is strongly preferred.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; prior family law practice experience is highly desirable.
