Position Summary:
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Consultant provides behavioral consultation, treatment planning, and professional oversight within the Intensive Individual Support Services (IISS) program. The BCBA develops individualized treatment plans for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and developmental disabilities, focusing on skill development, communication, independence, and behavior management.
This position also serves as the on-call professional during crisis or urgent behavior situations and provides hands-on training and guidance to Direct Support Workers (DSWs) and families to ensure the effective implementation of interventions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Treatment Planning
- Conduct behavioral assessments to identify the individual’s strengths, needs, and behavioral challenges.
- Develop individualized Treatment Plans with measurable goals focused on communication, daily living skills, social interaction, and behavior reduction.
- Collaborate with families and program staff to ensure the treatment plan supports the individual’s goals and promotes safety and independence.
- Crisis and On-Call Support
- Serve as the on-call behavior professional to provide immediate consultation during behavioral crises or urgent situations.
- Develop proactive strategies to prevent behavioral incidents and ensure the safety of participants and staff.
- Provide follow-up guidance and support to staff and families after crisis situations.
- Training and Supervision of Direct Support Workers
- Train Direct Support Workers (DSWs) on implementing behavioral strategies and treatment plan goals.
- Provide instruction on data collection, reinforcement systems, and crisis prevention techniques.
- Conduct periodic on-site observations to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and provide corrective feedback when needed.
- Family and Team Collaboration
- Meet with families to review behavioral goals, interventions, and progress.
- Collaborate with the Program Director and other professionals to ensure coordination of services.
- Offer ongoing consultation and coaching to families to reinforce consistent support strategies at home and in the community.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and consultations.
- Review and update treatment plans regularly based on progress and team input.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, Autism Waiver requirements, and Maryland state regulations.
- Professional Conduct and Development
- Uphold ethical and professional standards consistent with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Code of Ethics.
- Stay current with best practices and evidence-based approaches in autism and behavioral health.
- Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential in good standing with the BACB.
- Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, or a related human services field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities.
- Skills:
- Strong background in behavior management and individualized support planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with families and Direct Support Workers.
- Ability to provide calm, effective leadership during behavioral crises.
- Proficiency in training, documentation, and progress monitoring.
Work Schedule:
- On-call availability for crisis or urgent behavior situations.
- Scheduled family consultations, Direct Support Worker training, and plan reviews as assigned.
- Flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
Work Environment:
- Services are provided primarily in the participant’s home and community settings, with occasional office-based meetings.
- Requires travel within the agency’s service areas.
