Perform telephone switchboard operator duties for patients, departments, and partnerships. Monitor alarms, codes, and alerts and follow corresponding procedures. Perform as answering service for departments and partnerships after their normal business hours.
QUALIFICATIONS

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
Answers all calls for Kaweah Health in a timely manner, transferring calls to respective departments, facilities and patients. Assists certain departments and all patients with local and long distance telephone calls.
Gives dialing instructions to staff and patients upon request.
Maintains a list of patients not to receive calls.
Maintains log of assisted long distance calls.
Coordinates calls for departments with on-call personnel after hours, holidays and weekends. Directs communication between the on-call staff and those needing their assistance.
Pages in-house staff as requested by individuals or departments for various purposes, via pager or overhead in case of emergency.
Maintains updated paging lists for physicians and KH staff.
Acts as an answering service for all agencies and partnerships of KH.
Takes messages for certain departments when unavailable and keeps call- back list for key personnel and departments up-to-date.
Explains the use of phone system and its features to personnel and patients. Explains the use of pager (alpha and numeric), wireless and cell phones, teleconference equipment and their features to personnel.
Operates PC for location of patients and for timely reports and updates to policy and procedure manuals.
Answers, responds and dispatches for all emergencies and Codes.
Responds to Disaster, Code Blue and all other emergency situations for KH by overhead paging, pager and telephone call to appropriate personnel immediately. Calls within allotted time period to ascertain whether all personnel heard and responded.
Maintains surveillance of alarm systems for KDH, sending appropriate dispatch for each alarm.
Monitors security door alarms. Keeps record of entrance and egress between 2000 and 0500.
Reports immediately to maintenance failures in emergency monitor panels, security systems and fire alarm systems for KH.
Reports to ISS help desk any malfunction of phone or paging equipment, phone changes or requests, and move requests.
Schedules KH vehicles and maintains vehicle keys at PBX Department.
Responsible for certain keys for KH, maintains Key Box.
Additional
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$20.00 -$30.00
