What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Trainer/ Kennel Technician position at Kawa Farms K-9 Training?
Seeking an able-bodied, compassionate, and hardworking individual to join our team for our boarding, training, and dog academy in Winterset.
Position Summary
A kennel technician provides daily care, feeding, and exercise for all boarding pets. He or she also cleans the environments in which the dogs reside. A kennel technician must pay close attention to details, understand and follow proper feeding and sanitation procedures, and monitor all boarding pets.
Job Responsibilities
-Keeping kennels, training areas, dog yards, and the facility clean
-Exercising, feeding, and observing the health of dogs
-Using mindfulness when moving and working with dogs who are reactive and/or service dogs.
-Basic grooming of dogs
-Communicating effectively with trainer’s, supervisors, and other staff
-Understanding infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread
-Administering Medications as instructed
-Laundry
-Making sure the dogs remain happy and healthy
-Playing with and loving on the dogs!
Basic Job Requirements
-MUST BE OVER 18 TO WORK ALONE IN KENNELS
-US citizens or legally authorized to work in the US for at least the next 12 months
-Able to pass a background check
-Available to work 16 hours of the six major holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas)
-Ability to read and comprehend instructions
-Ability to do simple math
-Ability to remain calm and productive in stressful situations
-Must enjoy working around dogs
-Must be a team player
Physical Obligations
-Able to lift dogs and carry equipment up to 35 pounds
-Ability to lift dogs or carry equipment over 50 pounds with assistance
-Endure sitting, standing, and walking on hard floor surfaces and stairs for extended periods
-Mowing Grass, Snow removal, Building and grounds upkeep.
Hours
Tuesday through Friday 10:00 Am - 5:00 PM (End is negotiable)
Saturday 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
