Position Overview

We're seeking an exceptional Tap Room Manager to lead daily operations, cultivate community, and drive the success of our location. This role is perfect for a natural connector who thrives on building relationships, organizing dynamic events, and motivating a team to deliver outstanding guest experiences.

Bar Management & Operations

  • Oversee all daily tap room operations from opening to close, ensuring smooth service flow during peak hours (3–6pm, 8pm ) and maintaining our welcoming cafe-by-day, lounge-by-night atmosphere
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and quality control for kava, botanical elixirs, and specialty ingredients
  • Maintain health, safety, and regulatory compliance standards at all times
  • Monitor financial performance including sales, labor costs, and profitability targets
  • Implement and uphold Kava Culture's preparation standards and service protocols
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of the tap room and equipment

Team Leadership & Motivation

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of Kavatenders
  • Create an inspiring, positive work culture that motivates staff to excel
  • Lead by example with energy, professionalism, and passion for our mission
  • Conduct regular team meetings, provide constructive feedback, and recognize outstanding performance
  • Manage scheduling to optimize coverage during busy periods while controlling labor costs
  • Foster continuous learning about kava culture, botanical benefits, and product knowledge

Event Planning & Execution

  • Design and execute engaging events that drive traffic and build community (live music, wellness workshops, themed nights, seasonal celebrations)
  • Coordinate logistics including vendor management, promotion, staffing, and setup/breakdown
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote events across social media channels
  • Track event performance and ROI to refine future programming
  • Build partnerships with local businesses, wellness practitioners, and community organizations

Community Building & Guest Experience

  • Serve as the face of Kava Culture, greeting guests warmly and making everyone feel like part of the tribe
  • Build genuine relationships with regulars and newcomers alike, learning names and preferences
  • Create a welcoming environment where sober-curious individuals, remote workers, and health-conscious guests feel at home
  • Handle guest feedback and resolve concerns with grace and professionalism
  • Actively engage on the floor during peak times to connect with guests and support the team
  • Cultivate the social, wellness-oriented atmosphere that keeps guests returning multiple times per week

Organization & Systems

  • Maintain organized systems for inventory tracking, scheduling, cash handling, and reporting
  • Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports
  • Manage POS system operations and staff training on technology
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures to ensure consistency
  • Stay ahead of supply needs, maintenance issues, and operational challenges through proactive planning

QualificationsRequired

  • 3 years of bar, restaurant, or hospitality management experience
  • Proven track record in high-volume bar or beverage service operations
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and natural ability to connect with diverse groups of people
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, motivation, and staff development
  • Experience planning and executing successful events
  • Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management, and basic financial reporting
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid food handler's certification (or ability to obtain immediately)

Preferred

  • Experience in the wellness, health-conscious, or non-alcoholic beverage industry
  • Knowledge of kava, kratom, botanical beverages, or specialty drink preparation
  • Background in community building or social programming
  • Social media savvy and comfort promoting events online
  • Experience with franchise or multi-unit operations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8 hours)
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with varying noise levels

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
