JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer for an exciting direct hire scenario. The individual in this position is responsible for overseeing and controlling all aspects of Bank system resources (servers, workstations, laptops, and network-connected devices). Plan, organize, design, control, and manage all systems connected to the Bank’s internal network. Coordinate and oversee all third- party connections to the Bank’s network through the external firewall. Install and support operating systems (OS’s) on all systems. Manage system control and security-related procedures. Troubleshoot system problems through resolution. Provide second and third-level end user support for operating systems, applications, and systems running on the Bank’s network.
Control and Security-Related Responsibilities:
- Windows Software Update Patching– Download, test, and distribute software patches and OS updates to network-connected devices.
- System/Network Backups – Back-up all sensitive, valuable, or critical information resident on the Bank’s computer systems and networks.
- ISP&P Adherence - Ensure all system policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures are observed.
- Vulnerability Scanning - Ensure all network-connected devices are routinely scanned for vulnerabilities and industry best practices configurations. Remediate issues as needed.
- NAC Infrastructure Management - Design, install, configure, implement, and maintain network access control (NAC) infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
System and Network Administration:
- Design, configure, maintain, and manage security/infrastructure features for local and wide area networks and systems. Configure, monitor, and maintain security infrastructure environment to ensure network and systems integrity. Where applicable and management approved, add and delete users on network-connected devices and applications.
- Oversee adherence to and ensure compliance with internal controls within the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) pertaining to network/system operations.
- Implement and maintain remote access servers, domain servers, security firewalls, network devices, and application/device servers, Internet/Intranet devices, and connections throughout the organization in accordance with Bank policy.
- Perform maintenance on servers, domain configurations, e-mail user files, and/or databases.
- Work with Network team members to integrate voice, data and video applications on the local and wide area networks.
- Analyze, recommend, and evaluate new hardware, software, and communication products for network compatibility and applicability. Help ensure all necessary new capital equipment expenditures are included in the Bank’s annual CapEx budgets.
- Develop, maintain, and update a library of technical documentation.
- Perform advanced diagnostics and maintenance on desktop devices when additional expertise is required.
- Assume contractual management responsibilities, assist in requests for proposals, vendor selection, Purchase Request creation, and contract monitoring.
- Design, configure, monitor, and optimize servers, workstations, and network-connected devices for optimal performance, maximum availability, minimal maintenance and reasonable costs.
- Keep current on new developments and techniques in the information technology systems area.
- Monitor and maintain patch management solutions for servers, workstations, networked devices (TCRs, ATMs, Printers, UPSs, Cameras, etc.), and applications that run on any networked OS-based Bank platform.
- Monitor and maintain security plan protecting the Bank’s network-connected devices.
Web Infrastructure Management
- Work with outside vendors to set-up/maintain the Bank’s public website.
- Set-up, maintain, and secure internal Bank websites.
- Install, test, implement, and maintain Microsoft IIS.
- Maintain/modify web-based applications (e.g., Help Desk, FSR, Change Control)
- Design/develop/implement web-based applications for internal use.
- Database Infrastructure Management
- Set-up, test, maintain, and secure internal Microsoft (MS) SQL databases.
- Create and maintain maintenance routines for Bank SQL databases.
- Monitor MS SQL Database performance on Bank servers. Proactively address issues that arise.
Video Communications
- Troubleshoot system problems through resolution.
- Provide environment to set-up and test new configurations.
- Work with the Security Team to provide law enforcement evidence in the form of motion video and still pictures as needed.
Audit Responsibilities
- Provide requested audit materials and responses in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Remediate audit findings where necessary.
- Participate in audit meetings as requested.
ATM Responsibilities
- Work with the Network team to isolate ATMs.
- Manage technical support
- Work with the IP and Retail teams to ensure ATM transactions flow in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Patch and upgrade ATM transaction processing (NCRTran) and management (NCRVisiion) servers to the proper application level.
- Upgrade the ATMs themselves to the proper application level.
Other Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and/or assistance to other IT team members.
- Work with Bank management on or lead special projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is required. Major in Computer Science, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification required. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or additional certifications preferred.
- 7 years’ work-related experience with Windows Server, Windows workstation, and Office.
- Good understanding of IT Service Management framework and principles including formal change control standards and processes.
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification preferred.
- Excellent understanding of System and Network Technology and Security fundamentals
- Experience working with Microsoft domain architectures and Enterprise Backup.
- In-depth knowledge of PC hardware.
- Familiar with Cisco routing and switching.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Capable of prioritizing duties in the face of multiple projects/tasks with a history of meeting/beating deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with individuals across different business units and varying levels within the organization including Executive Management, business unit managers, business users, and IT team members.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proven ability to remain calm and apply logic when troubleshooting business impacting systems issues.
- Display a great level of creativity while carrying out daily work routine and continuously look for improvements in processes and additional efficiencies.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership attributes and effectively work as part of a team.
