Director of Construction – Municipal Water & Wastewater
We are seeking an experienced Director of Construction to lead and oversee municipal water and wastewater construction operations. This leadership role is responsible for driving project execution, operational performance, safety, quality, and profitability across multiple projects while developing high-performing construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of municipal water and wastewater construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Lead project teams to ensure schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety objectives are achieved.
- Partner with clients, engineers, and stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and support successful project delivery.
- Guide project planning, estimating, procurement, subcontractor management, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Monitor project financial performance, identify cost impacts, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Review contracts, change orders, claims, and construction-related issues to minimize project risk.
- Conduct regular project reviews and site visits to ensure compliance with company standards and client expectations.
- Support workforce planning, recruiting, mentoring, and development of Project Managers and other construction leaders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across construction operations and project delivery processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10 years of experience managing large-scale municipal water and wastewater construction projects.
- Proven success leading multiple projects and construction teams in a leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of construction operations, project controls, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Experience managing client relationships, subcontractors, and complex project challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
