Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Lead Driver/Supervisor to oversee daily transportation operations, manage a team of drivers, and ensure the smooth, efficient movement of freight and goods. Duties

• Assist with deliveries and pickups
• Able to run a route efficiently
• Supervise and coordinate daily road transportation operations, ensuring timely delivery of freight while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
• Manage vehicle dispatching using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to optimize routes and improve efficiency.
• Oversee fleet management activities, including vehicle maintenance scheduling, tracking via GPS and GIS tools, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Lead and motivate a team of drivers by providing training on GPS navigation, road transportation procedures, and customer service expectations.
• Handle phone call management through multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear communication with drivers, clients, and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate data entry related to shipping & receiving logs, freight details, and internal documentation using Microsoft Office applications and logistics software like Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
• Conduct analysis of transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
• Ensure effective internal communication by coordinating between departments on shipping schedules, freight updates, and delivery statuses.
• Manage phone etiquette during customer interactions, resolving issues promptly while maintaining professionalism.
• Support shipping & receiving activities by overseeing freight loading/unloading procedures and documentation accuracy.

Qualifications

• Previous delivery experience (1yr)
• Proven experience in road transportation operations or logistics management with a strong understanding of supply chain processes.
• Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS technology, transportation planning tools, and vehicle dispatch software.
• Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and compliance standards for fleet management.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills for effective internal communication and customer service via phone calls or in person.
• Ability to lead a team through dispatching activities while maintaining high levels of safety awareness and professionalism.
• Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, freight handling, and fleet management best practices is preferred.
• Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating logistics performance metrics and implementing improvements.

Pay: $150.00 - $170.00 per day
